What is BlueChart® g2?
Exceptional chartplotters deserve the best in cartography. Garmin has made the best even better with a new-generation version of BlueChart. BlueChart® g2 is here. And it has all the detail of traditional BlueChart, but with 3D perspective, and richer detail and content.
This new-generation BlueChart g2 features smoother layering and better integration of map graphics, for faster redraws and more cohesive panning, scrolling and zooming. It features richer colors and shading for easier interpretation and improved visibility. Also, it adds more detail on land features, coastal roadways, marine services and municipal areas. You’ll find useful data on tides and currents – plus familiar IALA navaid symbology. A growing worldwide database of high-quality photo content gives “real picture” detail on many harbors, ports, marinas and coastal features. And, best of all, the new BlueChart g2 features a choice of new 3D “mariner’s-eye-view” map perspective, or the familiar 2D direct-overhead view – to make chart reading and orientation easier. When you want to make the most of your time on the water, BlueChart g2 is cartography you can count on.
The difference is in the details.
Like all BlueChart cartography, the new g2 version is styled to match the appearance of paper charts, when displayed on your Garmin chartplotter. Features include shading between depth contours, spot soundings, navaids, port plans, wrecks, obstructions, intertidal zones, restricted areas and more. Sharp, colorful, finely detailed graphics let you see every cartographic contour and feature, with a minimum of panning and zooming to bring the chart data into focus. BlueChart g2 cartography is offered in the form of preprogrammed data cards, which can be plugged directly into compatible Garmin chartplotters for easy data loading or updating.
