With over 20 years of charging experience, Merlin have developed these chargers to bring features only previously available on high end brands at an affordable price. M-Power Chargers provide 4 stage smart charging to ensure rapid yet safe recharging of high capacity and exotic battery banks. Bulk During this mode, the charger develops it’s maximum output continuously until the battery reaches 80% of capacity. This means that you quickly replenish the Bulk of the battery capacity – perfect if operating the charger from an on board generator. Absorption Above 80% Charged, M-Power reduces charge current but maintains voltage to condition the batteries while at the same time, bringing them to 100% charged (conventional chargers only ever reach 85% so your battery run time will be longer). Float Once fully charged, M-Power provides just enough power to prevent the batteries self discharging. You can then leave your batteries unattended for very long periods of time (months & months), in the knowledge that they are being maintained for immediate use on your return. Power Supply Mode During this stage, the charger can develop up to it’s maximum rating to “keep up” with on board loads. This means you can run your lights, refrigeration, heating etc without the batteries running flat – and preventing embarrassing “lights out” moments when entertaining alongside! M-Power has a host of other features: · Universal Input – M-Power Chargers will work anywhere in the world (no adjustment or programming necessary) · Full Power Factor Correction – Means that the unit pulls less power from a generator or shore supply · 3 Output – M-Power Chargers will charge up to 3 independent battery banks · Advanced Display – the unit will display warnings, battery voltage, charge output, mode and a wide range of other information to keep you informed about how your charger and system is performing · Temperature Compensation – This can be manually set for Cold/Warm/Hot ambient temperatures. An optional temperature sensor is available to provide fully automatic temperature compensation. · Battery Type Selection – You can select lead/acid, gel, AGM and Hi Calcium (sealed lead/acid) battery types. Custom programming is also available. · Standby Mode – Once batteries have been in float for more than 21 days, charger automatically performs a maintenance charge to prevent memory effect. · Equalise Mode – Battery Equalisation should be performed once or twice a year. It is a special conditioning charge that reverses the damaging effect of sulphation. Before, this was only found on very high end chargers. All M-Power units have this as standard and allows you to extend the life of your batteries.
