The Mark line of fishfinders is Lowrance's foray into the ultra affordable marine electronics market. But don't be fooled, the Mark 5x DSI still has all of the latest and greatest features needed to find your fish targets. Lowrance has achieved this lower price point primarily by outfitting the Mark 5x DSI with a gray scale monitor in place of the full color monitors used in the Elite line. What's left intact is nearly all of the great technologies that Lowrance fishfinders are known for. The DSI stands for Downscan Imaging and is what allows for such incredible clarity and distinctive visuals of underwater structures both soft and hard. Anglers can easily distinguish between large predator fish and smaller baitfish. With 500 watts of power, the device can peer down to depths of over 200 feet and do it even at boat speeds of up to 40 mph.

All received images are saved and with the Trackback feature, they can be recalled and reviewed at any time. As advanced as these technologies really are, Lowrance has managed to make their utilization quite simple. In fact, with the Mark 5x, users can elect to operate the unit in full automatic mode. This mode basically leaves all of the adjustments and fine tuning to the unit itself with little if any input from the operator. Anglers can literally turn on the unit and begin their exploration of the deep. Of course advanced users will have fun with the optional manual control mode where such things as background color palettes can be selected according to preference.
